About Me

I received my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northern Illinois University in 1997. Since then I have worked at a social service agency, a church, a group private practice, and now at my own solo private practice.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado. I will continue to maintain my LMFT and LCPC licenses in the state of Illinois.

I'm passionate about shepherding people through difficult times, providing support, and helping people grow. I'm honored to be able to use my gifts and skills to help people find hope, healing, understanding, compassion, and empathy, as well as practical tools to make a difference in your life and future. I believe I have a supportive, practical, and relational approach to counseling with an emphasis on hope and the strengths of those I'm counseling.

I'm certified in the premarital/marital counseling program Prepare/Enrich and am a certified facilitator for SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts), and I enjoy helping couples experience intentional marriages. I have special interest in depression, domestic violence awareness, self-esteem, grief and loss (I am a certified grief informed professional), attachment, spiritual issues, temperament and personality differences in relationships, communication, adoption & foster care concerns, and abuse issues. I also offer clinical supervision for therapists.

I have completed the training for Discernment Counseling and am now able to see clients whose marriage is "on the brink". Read more here: https://moderncommitment.com/on-the-brink/.

I am certified as a Trauma-Informed Care Practitioner from the Colorado Professional Development Center as of 2016. I am in the process of becoming certified in discernment counseling with the Doherty Relationship Institute. I have also been listed as one of the Top 3 Marriage Counselors in Colorado Springs on www.threebestrated.com. I have a certificate in Faith Based Domestic Violence Training from Focus Ministries.

I am able to provide Christian counseling but also see clients of any or no faith and strive to treat all people with respect. I am honored and thankful to have the opportunity as a therapist to be an instrument of God's love, peace and hope.

I enjoy speaking in the community about Being More Intentional In Your Marriage and also about healthy communication.

I am a Clinical Fellow in the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy as well as a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. I'm a member of the Colorado Counseling Association and the Rocky Mountain Family Therapy Network.
